CMD Tricks How To Check Open Port Status

To check open port command prompt 

Step 1:  Press windows key + R and then run prompt will be open in that type CMD and click OK.

Step 2:  And in command prompt type command Netstat -an. Which will display connected states 
and port which are connected.

Step:3: Inspect the status of extracted output . there will be five states you could see in extracted output.



  • listening- means port is listening mode if we try to establish connection it will connect 
  • established- application is connected through port successfully 
  • time_wait- waiting to respond
  • sync_sent- expecting reply from destination host 
  • close_wait- expired time-wait

Step:4: Close CMD by using cls and type exit from command prompt
