Quadrature amplitude modulation(QAM)

What is QAM ?
  • QAM is a medium enable analog signal to transmit digital information in efficient and effective manner.
  • By using QAM we can increase the bandwidth by sending more bits in same time frame.
  • QAM transmit data based on the amplitude modulation scheme and code. So by varying amplitude, or power signal we can utilize QAM.
  • QAM will relate the number of bit information encoded in each time period.
  • First in phase with the Incoming data and the second 90 degrees out of phase.
  • Based on the bit information the QAM modulation is defined if it is 8 bits. 2 to the power of 8 so totally 256 bits(256QAM) . And if it is 10  bits total 1024 bits(1024QAM).
  • For WiFi technology IEEE802.11ac with 256 QAM used. For 5G Technology uses WiFi radio technology Also known as WiFi radio 6 which uses 1024 QAM.
  • QAM modulation is used by network operators to deliver voice, video and data in high speed.
  • QAM carries to supporting the entire 50MHz - 1GHz spectrum on each port.
